Florise R. Neville-Ewell, HGP’s creator, is a Yale college and law school graduate, real estate lawyer, law professor, and CEO of Neville Communications Corporation (NCC), an entity established in 1990 to provide people with basic information about property law.
In conjunction with her practice, having worked at Sidley Austin, LLP and as General Counsel for the Detroit Housing Commission, Florise has always been a prolific speaker and writer. She has done presentations for AARP, the Detroit Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank, the American Bar Association, the Detroit Branch of the NAACP, and President Obama’s Mortgage Fraud Task Force, among countless others. She is also a former “ask the lawyer” talk show host, having hosted a weekly show on WVON, the renowned AM radio station in Chicago.
In addition to academic publications, Florise has also been committed to writing educational material for the public. Once a ghost writer for the former Charter One Bank, it published her articles and advice columns on real estate issues. Recently, she released Organize and Understand Your Real Estate Documents with the FLO-FOLDER, a hybrid book and toolkit for the general public. As designed, it empowers people by helping them before, during, and after purchasing a home – even without going to law school and taking her property course. Ultimately, it provides people with a foundation of knowledge that helps them accomplish the ultimate goal of building generational wealth.
Always willing to serve, former Governor Granholm appointed Florise to the Michigan State Housing Development Authority Board, where she ultimately became its Chair; and with fellow board members, worked to facilitate building affordable housing across the State of Michigan.
Florise is also the founder of the 10CORE Law Society (10CORE), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, which since 2010 has been dedicated to educating youth and adults about real estate issues. Most recently, 10CORE established an innovative housing literacy program for high school students which enables them to engage in mock exercises and ultimately “purchase” their first home(s).
The recipient of numerous awards and acknowledgements, the National Bar Association Women Lawyers’ Division recently nominated her for its “Outstanding Hidden Figure/Impact” award. Florise was also invited to join and is a member of “The National Black Lawyers Top 100,” an elite network of legal experts.
